Speaker 1:

Hello, hello. You're listening to the Jesse Morgan Devotions for the Christian Heart Podcast, episode 24. This week's devotional is titled Trusting God's Timing From Wilderness to Promise. Let's go Hi. I'm Jesse Morgan. I used to just share home decor and renovation tips on social media, but now I'm sharing something even closer to my heart my journey and love for Jesus Christ, my Savior. Welcome to the Jesse Morgan Devotions for the Christian Hawk Podcast.

Speaker 1:

This is a weekly devotional. I started back in May 2024, but the inspiration for it came much earlier. It was rooted in a faith journey that began when my daughter was born, four months early in 2023. Through that challenging time, god worked in ways that truly amazed me. On this podcast, I share personal stories of faith, woven together with scripture to show just how incredible God's word can be in our everyday lives. My hope is that through these stories, you'll be encouraged, uplifted and reminded of God's love and presence, no matter what you're going through. So I invite you to spend less than 15 minutes with me each week as we reflect on these devotionals together. Let's all pray within Trusting God's Timing from Wilderness to Promise, episode 24.

Speaker 1:

Hey friends, welcome back to another episode of the Jesse Morgan Devotions for the Christian Heart podcast. I'm Jesse, and today I wanted to dive into a topic that's been on my heart lately trusting God's timing, especially when it feels like you're wandering in the wilderness. So grab your coffee or tea, settle in and let's have a heart-to-heart about life's timing, faith and wilderness sessions or seasons. We all go through Key passages Numbers 14, 33 through 34, Deuteronomy 8-2, ecclesiastes 3-1, and let's get started. So let me just start off by this have you ever felt like you're just wondering, wandering, waiting for something to happen? Like maybe you're doing everything you think you're supposed to be doing, but the thing you're hoping and praying for just isn't coming? I've been there too, and I'm going to get really real with you again today. Sometimes we're in the wilderness because God is preparing us for what's next. He's saying you're not ready yet, but trust me, when the time is right you will be.

Speaker 1:

Here's how the wilderness season looked for me. When are we having a baby? That was the question I kept hearing during the first few years of my marriage and, let me be real, it was like a punch in the gut every time my husband and I were dealing with fertility issues, and every time someone asked that question it stung. People meant well, but they had no idea the pain it caused. The comments like there's never a perfect time didn't help either. Here's a quick lesson for anyone listening Please stop asking people when you are having kids. It's okay to ask, do you want children? But don't assume the timing is in their hands, because it's not. It's in God's hands, just like it was for us.

Speaker 1:

Around 2018, we got married and moved into our first home. We weren't in a rush to have kids. We wanted time to enjoy each other, build our lives together. You know. Then, by 2020, we were ready to start trying, but then COVID happened. Like many of you, we were both furloughed, so we decided to hold off a bit longer. When we finally started trying, it wasn decided to hold off a bit longer. When we finally started trying.

Speaker 1:

It wasn't easy. It was emotionally exhausting. Each month was a disappointment and, on top of that, people kept asking when we have kids. Some even commented about my age and how I should hurry up. This just added pressure to an already heavy situation. Only my mom and close friends knew the full weight of what I was carrying. I kept asking God why, why I worried about everything my age, whether we need IVF or fertility treatments if we could even afford that by 2023,. I told my husband I needed a break from the constant tracking, the pressure. We even started looking into fertility clinics. We spoke with the first fertility doctor in February 2023 and liked her and decided to start the tests and process. Mind you, I said I'm leaving it up to God. At that moment, I had no idea how we would afford IVF, but I was stepping out on faith. I didn't know the answer, but I took the next step and honestly, I think that was the turning point for me. Maybe God saw that my faith was growing a bit, because I literally just said let's go check out an IV clinic, ivf clinic and see what happens. So here's the twist In March 2023, I got pregnant on our own and, oh, we were so excited.

Speaker 1:

But the reality of pregnancy hit hard. I lost 16 pounds in the first trimester. I was sick all the time and had zero energy. On top of all that, I went through prepartum depression, questioning everything. I mean, I questioned everything. It was like this cloud of doubt covered my life, my baby, my future. But, by grace of God, the Holy Spirit nudged me to get help and therapy made a huge difference.

Speaker 1:

Then things took a turn. Our daughter was born four months early due to an infection we both had. It was one of the scariest times of my life. Doctors gave her less than 20% chance to survive. She spent over 120 days in the hospital. People told me it was traumatic, and maybe it was, but for me and my husband it was also a revival of our faith. My faith was all I had to hold on to. It was like the Holy Spirit within me was awakened. I prayed daily, read devotions, praised God constantly. That was my lifeline. And let me tell you, god showed up in ways I never imagined. My daughter faced heart problems, lung issues, surgeries, but today today she's healthy and thriving.

Speaker 1:

God came through and here I am sharing this testimony with you, hosting a podcast about my Lord and Savior, jesus Christ. So why am I sharing this now? Because this week I had a moment. I was talking with a loved one and we started reflecting on past life challenges. It reminded me that we all go through wilderness seasons, seasons where we feel lost, uncertain or like we're just wandering. And it made me think about the Israelites when they wandered the desert for 40 years in the Bible. In the Bible. They wandered because they didn't trust God. Here's that key verse Numbers 14, 33 through 34. Your children will be shepherds here for 40 years, suffering for your unfaithfulness, until the last of your bodies lie in the wilderness. For 40 years one year for each of your 40 days you explored the land. You will suffer for your sins and know what it's like to have me against you. They disobeyed God and, as a result, it says above God waited for those unfaithful generation to pass before the next Faithful generation could enter the promised land then.

Speaker 1:

I don't see my pregnancy journey as punishment, but it was definitely my wilderness. I wasn't centering my life around God at the time. I was distracted by work, relationships and all sorts of things that pulled my attention away from him, and through this season, god allowed me to walk through the wilderness so that the old, distracted version of me would die. He was preparing me to grow spiritually and mentally for the blessings he had waiting. We had our baby at the perfect time God's time by the end of 2020, I felt.

Speaker 1:

I left my retail job after 12 years and joined a tech company. That change was key Better insurance, better benefits and a work-life balance that I so desperately needed when my daughter was in the hospital. Our bills were half a million dollars, but our insurance covered 90% of it. If I stayed with my old job, it would have only covered about 50 to 60%, and now I work from home with a flexible schedule, something that I wouldn't have been possible before. God was aligning everything behind the scenes. I just needed to grow in my faith and be ready for his blessings.

Speaker 1:

So what about you? Are you wandering in your own wilderness right now? If you are, I want to encourage you. Sometimes God has us in that place because he's preparing us for what's next. He's refining us, shaping us and helping us to grow so we'll be ready for his promises. Here's what I've learned Trust God's timing. Keep your faith strong, even when it feels like you're in the wilderness. Keep growing because when the time is right, he will bring you into the promises or the season he has prepared for you. As it says in Ecclesiastes 3.1, there is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens. Amen, let's pray.

Speaker 1:

Heavenly Father, thank you for this podcast and for each listener tuning in. I pray that we've all taken something valuable from this episode. It's humbling to realize that you sometimes hold us back, so we can grow and become the best versions of ourselves for your greater plan. Help us understand and appreciate the growth that comes from wandering in the wilderness, learning from our sins and mistakes so that we can better represent and glorify you. Father, we love you and we give you all the praise. In Jesus' name. We pray, amen. Well, that wraps up this week's episode. I hope these devotions help you draw closer to God each day.
