Jessi Morgan Devotions for the Christian Heart Podcast

What is your purpose, really?

Jessi Morgan Season 1 Episode 33

Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…

What if your unique talents and stories are precisely what God intends to use to reach those around you? As we navigate the Christmas season, I, Jessi Morgan, invite you on a journey to uncover your God-given purpose through faith. I open up about my own struggles with fear and embarrassment, and how overcoming them has empowered me to live boldly for Christ. One heartwarming example is my mom, who turned her gift for event planning into a ministry by creating a neighborhood block party that cultivates community and connection. Inspired by the biblical example of John the Baptist, we'll explore how each of us can find our own path to share the good news and bring glory to God.

Drawing closer to God through devotions is a powerful way to deepen your faith and trust in His perfect timing. In this episode, we explore how weekly devotions can transform your daily life and spiritual journey. I encourage you to reflect on your own gifts and consider how they can serve others and honor God. Stay connected by subscribing, sharing this episode with someone who needs encouragement, and visiting my website or Instagram for more insights. Together, let's embrace our purpose, guided by the Holy Spirit, and grow in faith and fulfillment.

Key passages

Luke 1:13-17

13 But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John. 14 He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, 15 for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born. 16 He will bring back many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God. 17 And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

Jeremiah 29:11

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Speaker 1:

Hello, hello. You're listening to the Jesse Morgan Devotions for the Christian Heart Podcast, episode 33. This week's devotional is titled what is your Purpose Really? Let's go. Hi, I'm Jesse Morgan. I used to just share home decor and renovation tips on social media, but now I'm sharing something even closer to my heart my journey and love for Jesus Christ, my Savior. Welcome to the Jesse Morgan Devotions for the Christian Hawk Podcast.

Speaker 1:

This is a weekly devotional. I started back in May 2024, but the inspiration for it came much earlier. It was rooted in a faith journey that began when my daughter was born four months early in 2023. Through that challenging time, god worked in ways that truly amazed me. On this podcast, I share personal stories of faith, woven together with scripture to show just how incredible God's word can be in our everyday lives. My hope is that through these stories, you'll be encouraged, uplifted and reminded of God's love and presence, no matter what you're going through. So I invite you to spend less than 15 minutes with me each week as we reflect on these devotionals together. Let's all pray within. What is your purpose really? Key verses or key passages Luke 1, 13 through 17,. Jeremiah 29, 11. Hey everyone, welcome back to the podcast. I'm so glad you're here today.

Speaker 1:

As we're in the middle of this beautiful Christmas season, I want to take a moment to ask a question that's been on my heart what's your purpose in life really? Now, if you're like me, your first thought might be well, it's to share the good news of Christ. And yes, that's true. But let's get a little deeper. What is your individual purpose? How has God uniquely equipped you to share Jesus with the world?

Speaker 1:

For years I didn't have an answer to that question. I knew I wanted to serve God, but I was scared and if I'm being completely honest and transparent, I was embarrassed. I worried about what people might think. I thought if I really stepped out on faith, if I start living boldly for Christ, people will avoid me. Will I lose friends? I thought people might assume I'd be too judgmental or holier than thou. You know, has anyone ever felt that way? I hope I'm not alone here putting myself out here. But you know what I've learned which is really, you know, interesting is I learned that by discovering your purpose might mean losing some people along the way, and that's okay. Not everyone is going to understand your calling and not everyone is meant to. You know, the beauty of God's design is that your purpose is yours. It's for a specific audience and a specific reason. God uses your talents, your story and even your struggles to reach the people. He's placed in your life right. So here's the real question how are you living out your purpose? Yes, we're all called to share the gospel, but how are you personally doing that? For me it took years to figure out. Sometimes it takes a struggle, or even a blessing to spark that desire to fully serve God.

Speaker 1:

Let me share a story about my mom that really talked about purpose. Many of you might not know this, but my mom was an event planner for years. She retired to care for my dad who has multiple sclerosis, but her love for hosting events never, ever went away. About four years ago, my birthday, which is December 15th, which is this week currently happy birthday to me, but anyways, about four years ago, during my birthday, my mom surprised me with something so special. She brought in a coffee cart, set up chairs and music in the driveway of her house and invited my friends and family. She even invited the neighbors. What started as a birthday celebration has now turned into a massive annual block party during Christmas for her neighborhood. Every year it gets bigger and bigger. She added an outdoor Christmas tree, high top tables, a kid's corner, a crate maker, the works. But here's the thing this event has become so much more than a party. It's opened the door for relationships in her neighborhood. Neighbors come to her for advice, come to my dad for advice, encouragement and support. So many of them were highly invested in my daughter's NICU days when she was born. When she had just been born, my mom turned her God-given talent for event planning into a ministry right there in her driveway. Isn't that amazing? It's such a powerful reminder that God can use our talents to answer your purpose, no matter how big or small. To glorify him and reach others, all it takes is a willingness to say yes. This reminds me of the Christmas story, and not just the story of Jesus' birth, but John the Baptist as well.

Speaker 1:

In my ebook 25 Days Till Christmas, days, 15 through 20,. It really focuses on the miraculous births of both Jesus and John In Luke 1, 13 through 17,. That passage really talks about John's purpose. He was sent to prepare people's hearts for Jesus. He was a herald, which is a messenger. John's role was to turn people back to God even before Jesus began his ministry and just like that, john and just like John, you are a herald too we all are.

Speaker 1:

God has given you and me a gift and a purpose, and he wants you and me to use it and message the good news of Jesus. In the midst of our gifts For me, I discovered my love for writing and blogging, which turned into podcasting, and now I'm using these gifts to serve God. It wasn't easy. It took my daughter, sage, being born four months early for me to truly step into my purpose, but I'm so grateful for where God has brought me so far and so grateful of how far Sage has come and for how much he's grown me spiritually. Now here's my question for you how will you use your gifts to bring the good news of Jesus this Christmas and every day of the year? Spend time with God, listen to the Holy Spirit, trust that he will guide you, because your purpose isn't just for you, it's for his glory and for the people he's placed in your life.

Speaker 1:

Jeremiah 29, 11, wraps this podcast episode up beautifully. I feel so. Here it is, for I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future. See, you've got this. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for this day.

Speaker 1:
