Jessi Morgan Devotions for the Christian Heart Podcast
Jessi Morgan in 2023 had a traumatic experience that shaped how she views life and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God has laid it on her heart to share her experiences and inspire others to put God first in every aspect of their life like she finally did in hers. Having her daughter born 4 months early really made Jessi lean on the Lord for comfort and guidance. And today she stands here starting her own 10-15 minute podcast focusing on weekly devotionals about what God can do for you and what He's done for her.

God...Age Ain't Nuthin but a Number: Joshua 14 & 15
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…
What happens when we surrender our timelines to God's perfect timing? In this soul-stirring devotional, we journey through Joshua 14-15 to discover how Caleb's 45-year wait for his promised inheritance reveals profound truths about patience and divine timing.
At 85 years old, Caleb boldly declared, "I am just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then," before conquering the hill country God had promised him decades earlier. His unwavering faith despite the long wait parallels my own 90-year-old grandfather's remarkable vitality.
These stories illuminate a counter-cultural truth: age truly is nothing but a number in God's economy. While we often struggle waiting mere months for answered prayers, both Caleb and my grandfather demonstrate how patience cultivates deeper faith.
Ready to discover how patience creates space for faith and opens doors to unexpected blessings? Listen now, and join me in embracing the waiting seasons with renewed purpose and trust.

Hello, hello. You're listening to the Jesse Morgan Devotions for the Christian Heart Podcast, episode 47. This week's devotional is titled God Age Ain't Nothin' but a Number Joshua 14 and 15. So excited, let's go. Hi, I'm Jesse Morgan. I used to just share home decor and renovation tips on social media, but now I'm sharing something even closer to my heart my journey and love for Jesus Christ, my Savior. Welcome to the Jesse Morgan Devotions for the Christian Hot Podcast.
Speaker 1:This is a weekly devotional. I started back in May 2024, but the inspiration for it came much earlier. It was rooted in a faith journey that began when my daughter was born, four months early in 2023. Through that challenging time, god worked in ways that truly amazed me. On this podcast, I share personal stories of faith, woven together with scripture, to show just how incredible God's word can be in our everyday lives. My hope is that through these stories, you'll be encouraged, uplifted and reminded of God's love and presence, no matter what you're going through. So I invite you to spend less than 15 minutes with me each week as we reflect on these devotionals together. Let's all pray within. God age ain't nothing but a number Key passages Joshua 14 and 15. Hey everyone, welcome back to Jesse Morgan Podcast. I'm so glad you're here today because this episode is one that really hit my heart in a special way, made my heart smile a bit. You know the saying age ain't nothing but a number, and as I was reading through Joshua 14 and 15 this week, that phrase just immediately came to mind.
Speaker 1:We've been studying how God, you know, divided up the promised land among the 12 tribes of Israel, and the level of detail in these chapters is just insane. The Bible tells us exactly who got what, right down to the landmarks like the river and the Dead Sea. At first glance, all these details might seem unnecessary. Like Lord, why are we spending all this time on specifics? Can't we just skip ahead to the good part? But the truth is, god is intentional. He's detailed in his plans, not just for the Israelites but for us too. And sometimes the details, the waiting, the challenges, the unexpected detours are exactly where God blesses us the most. And that's where I want to bring the story of my grandfather in.
Speaker 1:But before we talk about him, let's go back in time and talk about Caleb. Caleb is just a story of faith and patience. Do you remember Caleb? In Numbers 14, 6 through 9, he and Joshua were two of the 12 spies Moses sent into Canaan to look at the land. The spy on the land. When they returned, 10 spies were filled with fear, talking about how the enemy was too big, too strong, too impossible to defeat. But Caleb and Joshua stood firm. They had faith. They knew God could do the impossible and deliver this land. Because of their faith, caleb and Joshua, they were the only two from their generation who actually got to enter the promised land. The rest, remember they didn't make it because they had doubted. Now listen to this All of this scouting the land.
Speaker 1:When he was a spy with Joshua, he was 40 years old. A spy with Joshua, he was 40 years old. Now fast forward to Joshua 14, he is now 85. That means that for 45 years Caleb has wandered the wilderness. He crossed the Jordan, he fought numerous battles and waited for his promise to come to pass to inherit land. That's what Moses had told him due to his faith back when he was a spy. And when the time finally came for Caleb to inherit his land, his land was still occupied. But Caleb didn't say was still occupied. But Caleb didn't say I'm too old for this. No, he didn't. He said to Joshua in 14, 10 through 12, now.
Speaker 1:Then, just as the Lord promised, he kept me alive for 45 years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the wilderness. So here I am today, moved about in the wilderness. So here I am today, 85 years old. I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out. I'm just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then. Now, give me this hill country that the Lord promised me that day. You yourself heard that then that the Agonites were there and their city were large and fortified. But the Lord helping me, I will drive them out, just as he said. He told Joshua, just as strong as now as I was then, let me go take my land. And at 85 years old, caleb went in and drove out the enemies from a fortified land that God had promised him. He didn't let age stop him. He trusted God's timing. So on to my grandfather, now living proof that age ain't nothing but a number, and everyone. Like I said, my wonderful grandfather is 90 years old. He is an amazing human being. Many of you know he lost the love of his life, my grandmother, in December of 2024. And it's been a tough transition. But even through grief, his strength, patience and work ethic inspire me every single day. This man has never let age define him. I've seen it my whole life.
Speaker 1:Back when I moved to DC in 2011, my mom, my grandmother and grandfather came to help me move into an apartment on the fifth floor with no elevator yes, you heard me, no elevator Five flights of stairs. We had movers, two young men, strong guys, carrying the furniture up all those stairs. And you know who was right there with them my grandfather, who was 76 at the time. Not only was he carrying things, but he was teaching those young guys how to do it properly. They were blown away saying Mr Floyd, you're in better shape than we are. Man, that day, my grandfather at one point carried four chairs up the stairs, back to back to back to back, didn't even sweat, didn't seem out of breath or anything my gosh. And then another story I'll never forget is back in 2015. My family did a walk to support my dad who has multiple sclerosis. It was a three mile walk. My grandfather, at 80 years old, walked the entire thing and he wasn't last either. He was moving Even just a month ago when I got my new floors installed in my house and this is in 2025, this story my grandfather showed up for three days straight just to supervise while I was out and about with my daughter for some errands and her therapy and things.
Speaker 1:One afternoon I came home and I couldn't find him Y'all. I go outside and see him in the garage. He had cleaned and organized my entire garage by himself in just like two hours, at 90 years old. I was like grandfather, what are you doing? He responded, saying kitten that's what he calls us as a pet name kitten your garage needed to get cleaned up Now. You better keep it this way, all right? And I was like, oh okay, thanks, grandfather.
Speaker 1:So you know, my grandfather reminds me so much of Caleb. He's always been patient, always taken his time to figure things out, never rushing, but was always persistent, and you know what? That's the kind of faith we need to have. Waiting on God's promises isn't easy. Caleb waited 45 years, yet we struggle to wait four months for something we've been praying for, right, I get it. It's hard, but think about the last time you waited for something and, when it finally came, how gratifying it was for that timeframe. Now look back. God was in the middle of that.
Speaker 1:So time, as I can see it, and as I feel these days, time is one of the biggest things that can test your faith. It can wear down your patience, make us question God's plan and push us towards doubt, but that's why we have to be steadfast. So today, I want to leave you with this Don't let age define you. It doesn't determine your past, your present or your future. It's not a setback, it's a blessing. Your experiences, your wisdom, your endurance, they matter. Be like Caleb, keep your faith, no matter how long it takes. Be like my grandfather Keep pushing, keep learning, keep serving, no matter your age, and, most of all, be patient.
Speaker 1:God's timing is always perfect. Let's pray, father. We thank you so much for the gift of age and the power of patience. We thank you for always working in perfect timing. Lord, I pray that everyone listening this week truly understands what patience can bring, that patience makes space for faith and faith opens the door to blessings. Thank you for this incredible study of Joshua. Thank you for Caleb's example, his unwavering patience, his boldness to stand for you and his obedience that led to the fulfillment of your promises for him. May we learn from his faith and trust in your perfect plan. We love you and we praise you, and we thank you for all you've done. In Jesus' name, we pray Amen. God bless you all Till next time. Speaker 1:This has been such a blessing and so fun to share some really cool stories about my grandfather. My grandfather was just such a creative, hardworking person. He always cared about his family. That was just that's what he put first. He put grandma first, their entire marriage, and he did the same thing with my mom and my aunt, with his grandchildren, with his friends, with his family, with his mother. I think that's what makes my grandfather so special and he's just so such an amazing person.
Speaker 1:And I remember one time. I remember one time I was in elementary school and my grandfather used to pick me up from school all the time and we would go to McDonald's and play that Monopoly game with McDonald's and we were always hoping that we would get Broadway I mean boardwalk, sorry, get the boardwalk stamp because we always got park place so we could win a million dollars. We had never happened, but I remember one time he picked, he was picking me up. He wasn't supposed to pick me up that way. That day my dad was supposed to pick me up and I remember there was this boy in my elementary class. He was so cute I'm not going to say his name because who knows and I had the biggest crush on him.
Speaker 1:And finally, one day somebody was like, yeah, that's Jessica and the guy. And he was like oh, hi. And I'm like hi. And they were like, yeah, you know, just, his dad played for the Dolphins and you know all that type of stuff. And I was like, yeah, he played. And he's like, yeah, dad has a new car. And I was like, yeah, my dad has a new F-150 truck and it's red. That's so awesome.
Speaker 1:You know, it was after school and I was waiting for my dad to pick me up because my dad had his new truck. Well, my dad didn't come pick me up. My grandfather picked me up and my grandfather had a red F-150 1970 something beat up old truck because he always used it, because he was always a handyman man. My grandfather pulled up in that and the boy looked at me like, uh okay, I was so embarrassed and I remember I got in the car and I said, grandfather, just drive off. And he's like, what's wrong, kid? And I said you weren't supposed to pick me up today. Oh my gosh, that was like the first time I was mortified in front of a boy and it was with my grandfather. Oh my gosh, I just, I just think about how dumb that is now.
Speaker 1:But my grandfather was at everything. He has every milestone. He's an amazing human being. He taught all of us how to drive my, you know, my cousins, my husband, me. He taught my mom and my aunt how to drive. He was always the person that taught everyone how to drive. He was just always that person. Something's broken. We call him to try to fix it. You know, grandfather is just, he's just reliable, reliable, smart and just sharp as ever. So I just wanted to give a shout out to him. Grandfather, I love you and I appreciate you, and God bless and everybody God bless. Have a wonderful week. Sometimes you just have to have a fun moment to just smile and laugh.
