Jessi Morgan Devotions for the Christian Heart Podcast

It's all in the Details, Refill Anyone?

Jessi Morgan Season 1 Episode 49

Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…

Have you ever doubted that God is paying attention to the details of your life? Joshua chapters 19-21 reveal a God who meticulously keeps track of every promise, every city, every border—and fulfills them all with perfect precision.

Walking through three powerful chapters in Joshua, this episode explores God's remarkable attention to detail in land distribution, His compassionate provision of refuge cities for those who made mistakes, and His strategic placement of the Levites throughout Israel to ensure everyone had access to spiritual guidance. As Jessi beautifully compares, God positioned His priests like "Starbucks in New York City"—always within reach when you need a spiritual refill.

Speaker 1:

Hello, hello. You're listening to the Jesse Morgan Devotions for the Christian Heart Podcast, episode 49. This week's devotional is titled it's All in the Details Refill anyone. Let's go. Hi, I'm Jesse Morgan. I used to just share home decor and renovation tips on social media, but now I'm sharing something even closer to my heart my journey and love for Jesus Christ, my Savior. Welcome to the Jesse Morgan Devotions for the Christian Hot Podcast.

Speaker 1:

This is a weekly devotional. I started back in May 2024, but the inspiration for it came much earlier. It was rooted in a faith journey that began when my daughter was born four months early in 2023. Through that challenging time, god worked in ways that truly amazed me. On this podcast, I share personal stories of faith, woven together with scripture to show just how incredible God's word can be in our everyday lives. My hope is that through these stories, you'll be encouraged, uplifted and reminded of God's love and presence, no matter what you're going through. So I invite you to spend less than 15 minutes with me each week as we reflect on these devotionals together. Let's all pray within. It's all in the details. Refill anyone.

Speaker 1:

Episode 49. Hey everyone, welcome back to the podcast. Can you believe we are almost done, or we are almost at the end of the book of Joshua. I cannot believe it. Thank you so much for taking this journey with me. You guys, I have never read or studied Joshua before, ever. This was my very first time and, wow, what a blessing it has been.

Speaker 1:

This week we're covering three chapters Joshua 19, 20, and 21. And let me tell you there are three special lessons here that, honestly, each can stand on its own, but it also feels like they all connect so beautifully together as well. So let's dive in. So, starting off with Joshua 19. Now Joshua 19 focuses on yep, you guessed it the allotment of land, the continuation of allotment of land.

Speaker 1:

Remember, in the previous chapters, the book of Joshua covered three specific tribes and the land they received, which was Judah, ephraim and Manasseh. And, just as a quick reminder, a little history here. The tribes of Israel were named after Jacob's sons. Jacob, who God later renamed Israel, had 12 sons, and each of those sons became a tribe. And I want to point out something really important here Joseph, who was one of the most well-known of Jacob's sons remember, he became second in command in Egypt didn't have a tribe directly named after him. Instead, his portion was split between his two sons, ephraim and Manasseh. I just wanted to make sure that we were super clear and in case I hadn't mentioned that before, so back to chapter 29. After those three tribes got their land earlier, this chapter tells us about the rest of the tribes finally receiving their promised land from the Lord Simeon Dan, Zel, bulan, eshachar, asher, nephetali, and then finally, that special someone who isn't part of Jacob's sons or the tribes, but Joshua himself. Joshua was allotted land too because of his faith and his leadership in God and, you know, guiding God's people, and you know what guys.

Speaker 1:

Chapter 19 goes into extreme detail. It lists every single tribe, every city and every border that they received, down to the exact diameters of what the tribe got, and all these just different details. The clarity was like impeccable and like incredible to read. Now you might be wondering, jesse, what's so deep about chapter 19? And here's what stood out to me the details. God promised his people this land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and he promised it to Abraham generations before this moment.

Speaker 1:

Look at Genesis 17, 8. It says the whole land of Canaan, god. It says the whole land of Canaan. God said to Abraham the whole land of Canaan, where you now reside as a foreigner, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you. I will be their God. And guess what? God kept his promise, every single detail. What a God we serve, right? If God kept track of all these promises, down to the borders and city names, why would we ever doubt that he would keep his promises to us? So you know, god doesn't forget details.

Speaker 1:

You know and this makes me think about back when I was looking for a new job while I was still at my old job, macy's and, to be clear, macy's treated me well. To this day, I am not a disgruntled ex-employee. Actually, in 2019 and 2020, I was basically on deck to becoming a store director, or store manager, as they call it. I was just waiting for the right location to open up so I could step into that role. But, if I'm being honest, I started realizing that the time and energy needed for that job just wasn't aligning with what I wanted personally anymore, so I started looking elsewhere in 2019. I wanted personally anymore, so I started looking elsewhere in 2019. I looked at tons of retail jobs at Sephora, target, saks, which actually offered me an assistant store manager role in Beverly Hills yes, lush Cosmetics, neiman Marcus, ulta Beauty, you name it.

Speaker 1:

Some offers came through, others did not work out and after months of searching, I started feeling discouraged. I had prayed at the start of my search, believing I would find the perfect role, but things weren't happening the way I thought they would. And then 2020 hit, and so did COVID. You can imagine how I felt, but I kept pushing. I told my husband I was going to keep going and keep looking, pushing. I told my husband I was going to keep going and keep looking. To be honest, I started to wonder God, did you forget about me?

Speaker 1:

But then, in late 2020, my best friend from college, chris Rogers shout out to him called me. He had just started working for a major tech company. I had never heard of them before. I didn't know anything about tech except Apple and the term Silicon Valley, right. But Chris asked me, basically called me one day and asked me Jess, what would it take money-wise for you to leave Macy's? My ears perked up. I looked at him and I told him the number and, honestly, I didn't think anything would come from it. But a week later, I was interviewing with his boss and y'all. After one interview, they hired me. I left Macy's on December 9th of 2020 and started my new role December 14th. God didn't forget me. He fulfilled every detail of my prayer too A remote job, higher pay, great health insurance, a good boss. God fulfilled all of it. He remembered every detail.

Speaker 1:

So now let's go on to Joshua, chapter 20. Cities of Refuge. This is a very interesting chapter. This chapter focuses on something so beautiful and it's refuge. As they said earlier, they were towns God set aside in chapter 20 specifically for people who had accidentally made a mistake Not on purpose, but truly an accident. These cities were places of safety and protection, and I just love that God dedicated an entire chapter to this idea. It shows how compassionate and merciful it is. It shows how humans us as man make mistakes. Back then, these cities of refuge were literally places you can run to for safety, but today, jesus is our ultimate refuge. We don't have to run to a physical city, we run to Jesus. He welcomes us with open arms. When you accept him as your savior, it's like making a reservation in the safest city there is his grace. Just to think about that, it just gives me a little bit of chills. All right now, ready to be blessed again. Focusing now on Joshua 21,.

Speaker 1:

The Levites portion this is the only tribe that we haven't talked about with their allotment. So now in this chapter, we focus on, like we said, the Levites, which is the priestly tribe. The Levites were different from the other tribes because they didn't get land per se in the traditional sense. They weren't allotted land like the others. Instead, god gave them 48 cities scattered throughout the other tribes' territories. Why? Because their true inheritance wasn't land, it was God himself. Look at Deuteronomy 10, 8 through 9. And it says at that time, the Lord set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord, to stand before the Lord, to minister and to pronounce blessings in his name, as they still do today. That is why the Levites have no share or inheritance among the fellow Israelites. The Lord is their inheritance. Isn't that beautiful? Is their inheritance? Isn't that beautiful, I mean? And all those 48 cities were spread out so that everyone could have access to a priest, to spiritual guidance, no matter where they lived.

Speaker 1:

It kind of reminds me of when I moved to New York back in 2013. This is going to be a weird analogy, but I think it fits. I was shocked when I first moved here of how short the blocks were compared to Miami Florida. And let me tell you, the amount of Starbucks on every corner when I was there was insane. I mean, I literally counted as I walked from 34th Street to 96th Street. Seems like a long walk, but that wasn't bad. Honestly, I counted 30 Starbucks like 30, wild. But you know what, if you really needed coffee, there was always a Starbucks close by. And that's how God positioned the Levites, so that, no matter where you were, you always had access to someone serving God directly. Today, we don't need a priest or a Levite to access God. But you know what, just like those Starbucks on every corner, god is always available to you. Spend time with him, get that boost, refill your spirit. He's everywhere.

Speaker 1:

And so now, as we wrap up this final portion of this lesson today, I just want to read this beautiful verse that concluded Joshua 21. It's Joshua 21, 45. And it says not one of all the Lord's good promises to Israel failed. Every one was fulfilled. I'm going to read that again Not one of all the Lord's good promises to Israel failed. Every one was fulfilled.

Speaker 1:

Wow, god fulfills his promises, god pays attention to every detail and God provides refuge when we make mistakes, and God is always near. Amen, let's pray. Lord, thank you for being a God of details, thank you for being a promise keeper. Thank you for being our refuge and our safe place. Remind us daily that you are near, you are for us and you never forget us. Fulfill your promises in our life. Lord, we thank you so much for this amazing lesson and we thank you so much for that boost that you give us every day and how spending time with you. You are refilling our cup and we just adore you, lord, and we thank you for always keeping up with every single detail of what we need in life. Father, we love you and Father, we praise you in Jesus name. Amen. I'll see you next week, guys, as we conclude our study of Joshua, and I have a little special surprise as well, god bless.

This is Jesse Morgan praying Jesse Morgan Devotions Behind the Scenes, starting right now. Hello, hello, welcome back. This is Behind the Scenes. I just wanted to come on here and personally thank everybody for their support with this podcast. I am recording my 49th episode right now, which is so crazy to believe. It will be a year in May that I started this journey of this podcast and I hope that even 10 seconds of this podcast, if it has inspired you, it has blessed you, obviously through God using me. I am just grateful. Next week is the 50th and I have a little special surprise that I'm going to have with this episode so excited about that. But I just wanted to reflect again on just where I've come with this podcast and I listened to like my first episode and it's so funny because I feel like I sound really different compared to now. I feel a little bit more relaxed now but I'm just so grateful.

Speaker 1:

My daughter has inspired me to put my faith and trust in God completely. It has not been easy. There have been really tough times, obviously, with her in the hospital. When she was born I had nothing but my faith. Me and my husband had nothing but our faith. But that was enough and she pulled through and she's doing great. And you know, now she's almost walking, which is insane to think, and she's, you know, trying to work on her language and things like that. And and you know, there's there's times where you know, kind of the therapists are like, oh, she's a little delayed, and I have to just remember that she's delayed in their eyes but in God she's on time, you know, and my husband keeps me grounded with that thought process.

Speaker 1:

But it's just been such an amazing experience being able to talk to you all every week, sharing some of the stories of my life and my family's life and friends and things like that, and being able to intertwine it with scripture, and I'm just so excited that I feel like I'm growing this way too, spiritually, which is such a blessing. And I'm just excited of what's to come with this podcast and you know if you have enjoyed it, you know. You know, leave me a message, let me know, and let me know how I can support you better. Let me know if you want me to speak on something specific, if you just want to leave a review, that helps me so much as well. But God bless everyone. Have a wonderful week and I can't wait till next week with the 50th episode. Stay tuned, god bless, keep God first.
