Jessi Morgan Devotions for the Christian Heart Podcast
Jessi Morgan in 2023 had a traumatic experience that shaped how she views life and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God has laid it on her heart to share her experiences and inspire others to put God first in every aspect of their life like she finally did in hers. Having her daughter born 4 months early really made Jessi lean on the Lord for comfort and guidance. And today she stands here starting her own 10-15 minute podcast focusing on weekly devotionals about what God can do for you and what He's done for her.

I am Your Servant Day 12
Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…
A single sentence can steady a shaking heart. When Mary says, “I am the Lord’s servant,” she offers more than a quote; she models a way to live when life turns unfamiliar. We open Luke 1:26–38 and trace the moment fear and favor meet, watching how God pairs a daunting call with a deep comfort and how surrender becomes the doorway to peace.
We walk through the text with care: Gabriel’s greeting, Mary’s honest question, and the promise that the Holy Spirit will overshadow what feels impossible.
You’ll leave with simple, grounded practices for the week. Ask how to live as God’s servant today.
If this reflection encouraged you, follow the show, share it with a friend who’s waiting on God, and leave a review so others can find these Christmas devotionals. Subscribe to keep walking through Scripture with us each day.

Hello, hello. This is Jesse Morgan Devotions for the Christian Heart Podcast. Welcome, welcome. This year I'm bringing my 25-day Christmas devotional to life in a new way. Beginning on day 11 through day 25, each devotional entry now has a matching mini podcast episode, a simple 8 to 10 minute reflection designed to help you slow down and truly sit with the story of Jesus' birth. Each episode clearly follows the same day as the written devotional, so day 11 in the book is day 11 on the podcast and so forth. My hope is that these daily audio reflections make the journey to Christmas feel even more personal, peaceful, and meaningful. Thank you for being here. Let's go. Day 12. I am your servant, episode 79. Key chapter, Luke 1, 26 through 28. In the sixth month of Elizabeth's pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, Greetings, you are highly favored. The Lord is with you. Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, Do not be afraid, Mary. You have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob's descendants forever. His kingdom will never end. How will this be? Mary asked, and the angel said, Since I am a virgin. The angel answered, The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth, your relative, is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail. I am the Lord's servant, Mary answered. May your word to me be fulfilled. Then the angel left her. So these verses, as we can see, is the beginning of the story, the real story of the birth of Jesus Christ. And we're focusing on Mary, this young, beautiful girl preparing for marriage. Then the angel Gabriel appears to her and tells her she's going to give birth to the Son of God. Naturally, she's confused, like, how can this be? I'm a virgin. And Gabriel, and of course, Gabriel tells her, The Holy Spirit will come upon you. And then Mary looks at him and says those powerful words, I am the Lord's servant. What a mindset to have. And then look at what God did next. The angel comforted her. He told her, This is a miracle, you know, this is happening. And then he shared something no one else knew, that her relative Elizabeth was already six months pregnant with John the Baptist, as we had mentioned yesterday. Gabriel, the angel told her that the angel told her that so she would not be alone. So she would know that God was already moving in ways she couldn't see. I want you to hold on to that today as we go through these this devotional, because sometimes we get handed something unexpected, something that doesn't show up looking like a blessing at first, something confusing where you're thinking, Lord, where is this coming from? Why is this happening? But you know, it's not from sin. You know, it's not from anything you did wrong, and you know it's just it's just not normal, but it still lands at your front door. And in those moments when something feels impossible or overwhelming, I want you to remember Mary's words. I am the Lord's servant. Lord, I'm gonna serve you, I'm gonna trust you, and whenever and whatever comes from this, it will be what's meant to be. That's what I want you to say to yourself. And right now, I just to be really, you know, upfront and personal. Right now, me and my husband are walking through something challenging. It's stressful, it's heavy, but deep down we still feel that something good is going to come out of it. We truly believe that by January, February of 2026, God is going to bless us abundantly. And that doesn't mean necessarily financially. It might mean emotionally, spiritually, something else entirely. We just have that feeling. I've shared it with my mom, my dad, and we're all sensing it. And honestly, I'm living a little bit in limbo right now with it, but that's where faith comes in. Right there in the limbo. And when you're walking without all the answers, when you don't know what's coming next, when you choose to keep going anyway, that's faith. And that's exactly what Mary did. So as you begin your day today, ask yourself, how am I living as God's servant today? How is this season of limbo drawing me closer to him instead of further away? And the last question to really think about is how am I letting go and allowing God to take me in the direction he knows is right? So be encouraged today, believe, and have the heart of a servant, just like Mary. You know, Mary showed us in one of the scariest, most life-altering moments of her life what a servant should be. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you so much for the beginning of the story of Jesus' birth. Thank you for the faithfulness Mary showed, and for the comfort you gave her through Gabriel, reminding her she wasn't alone, reminding her that you were already moving in her life. Father, thank you for being with us the same way. Even when we're in limbo, even when we just don't understand what's happening, even when we feel stressed or scared, thank you for always offering comfort if we just pause long enough to listen. We love you and we praise you in Jesus' name. Amen. Till next time. Thank you for listening. This episode is part of my Christmas devotional series inspired by my written devotional, 25 Days Till Christmas, a scriptured-filled journey preparing our hearts to celebrate the birth of Jesus. I invite you to read along and reflect on his story in a deeper way. Details in the show notes for the written devotional. And it also says in Scripture, glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace, goodwill towards men. Luke 2, 14. And don't miss the next reflection in this Christmas series by subscribing to the podcast to continue walking through God's Word this season. And a little bit about me. I'm Jesse Morgan, wife, mom, and devotional writer and podcaster who loves sharing biblical encouragement and the hope we find in Jesus. Till next time, Jesse Morgan signing off.
