Jessi Morgan Devotions for the Christian Heart Podcast

Praise God during challenges Day 15

Jessi Morgan Season 1 Episode 82

Text if you need me? Prayer or just need encouragement…

What if praise came before proof and peace arrived before the outcome? We open Luke 1:46–56 and sit with Mary's song, noticing how she lifts her voice in worship while life still feels uncertain.

You’ll hear a simple way to build a personal song of praise this season: read Mary’s words aloud, choose one attribute of God to celebrate, and thank Him in advance for the grace you need.

If this reflection helps you slow down and breathe, follow the show, share it with a friend who needs encouragement, and leave a review so more hearts can find hope this.

SPEAKER_00:

Hello, hello. This is Jesse Morgan Devotions for the Christian Heart Podcast. Welcome, welcome. This year I'm bringing my 25-day Christmas devotional to life in a new way. Beginning on day 11 through day 25, each devotional entry now has a matching mini podcast episode, a simple 8 to 10 minute reflection designed to help you slow down and truly sit with the story of Jesus' birth. Each episode clearly follows the same day as the written devotional, so day 11 in the book is day 11 on the podcast and so forth. My hope is that these daily audio reflections make the journey to Christmas feel even more personal, peaceful, and meaningful. Thank you for being here. Let's go. And it says in Luke 1, 46 through 56, and Mary said, My soul glorifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God, my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on, all generations will call me blessed, for the mighty one has done great things for me. Holy is his name. His mercy extends to those who fear him from generation to generation. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm, he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts, he has brought down rulers from their thrones, but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things, but has sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he promised our ancestors. Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home. Wow, what an amazing song or what an amazing set of words that Mary said praising the Lord through this very challenging, you know, life-changing situation. Basically, within her situation being pregnant with the Son of God and Elizabeth being pregnant at an older age with John the Baptist, who's going to do wonderful things as well. It's just amazing that in all this, she is, you know, sitting there with Elizabeth praising the Lord versus crying versus complaining versus trying to plan everything in a head. She is praising God. So let me start with this for you today. There's nothing more satisfying than praising someone else, right? Yet that doesn't come off that doesn't come out of people's mouths enough in this world, right? Well, we live in a culture obsessed with individual recognition, self-promotion, and the idea that you must rely solely on yourself to succeed. But in my holy spirit world, as I claim it, that's just not possible. God is universal, and he is the one I give praise to these days. Over the last two years, I've learned this deeply. I praise God before the good even happens. Praising him before the blessing shows faith. It tells heaven, Lord, I trust you, even when I don't see it yet. As we dig into day 15, I also wanted to share that it's my birthday. And honestly, I would rather everyone praise God than celebrate only me. I thank him for everything I have. I praise God three days after my daughter was born, early, celebrating how he would heal her, while the infectious disease doctor was telling me there was only a slim chance she would live. My mom praised God before we ever figured out the remaining funds for my wedding, and that was just a week away. And you know what in the end? God bless that. My dad praised and prayed when I was ten years old, asking God for an amazing husband for me. And here I am, eight years married, grateful for the man God prepared for me. Lord, I thank you for every single blessing and every single trial. I thank you because through all of it, I have learned so much about myself and my faith. So as we read Mary's song of praise today, let's remember to have our own song for God. And that song comes through praying, praising, and speaking with Him, about Him and everything to Him daily. Let's pray. Father God, today I come to you with a heart full of praise. Before the blessing comes, I thank you, Lord. Before I see the miracle, I trust you. Thank you for every trial that shaped me and every blessing that carried me. Thank you for healing my daughter, providing for my family, and writing a story I never could have imagined for myself. Teach me to have my own song of praise, like Mary, Lord. And that song should rise even in uncertainty. Let my life reflect your goodness, Lord, your faithfulness. Thank you so much for the amazing story of Jesus and the Gospels. We love you and we praise you in Jesus' name. Amen. God bless everyone. Till next time. Thank you for listening. This episode is part of my Christmas devotional series inspired by my written devotional, 25 Days Till Christmas, a scriptured-filled journey preparing our hearts to celebrate the birth of Jesus. I invite you to read along and reflect on his story in a deeper way. Details in the show notes for the written devotional. And it also says in Scripture, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace, goodwill towards men. Luke 2, 14. And don't miss the next reflection in this Christmas series by subscribing to the podcast to continue walking through God's word this season. And a little bit about me. I'm Jesse Morgan, wife, mom, and devotional writer and podcaster who loves sharing biblical encouragement and the hope we find in Jesus. Till next time, Jesse Morgan signing on.
